Shanghai telephone company

Shanghai telephone company, a public utility in China formerly controlled by American capital. Shanghai telephone started in 1881 (the seventh year of Guangxu reign of Qing Dynasty) and was operated by Dabei Telegraph Company. In 1900, it was transferred to Huayang Deloitte company. In 1929, it was acquired by at & T, a subsidiary of Morgan financial group, and changed its name. The company issued shares, absorbed a large number of Chinese capital, expanded continuously, and monopolized the telephone business in the Shanghai concession. It ended after the founding of new China.
