Electric sucker rod rotator systems

Date:2021-01-14 View:812

In order to solve the problems of eccentric wear of sucker rods, people invented sucker rod rotators to avoid premature wear and use of sucker rods. But the sucker rod rotator has long been a mechanical device operated by human force. A foreign company has developed an electric rod rotator system, which provides a variety of field-proven and highly engineered artificial lift technologies for well completion and production. Their systems include automation and monitoring equipment, production service connections, hydraulic rod pump systems, PCP systems and tubing rotators.

The electric rod rotator was announced in 2016 and improved the traditional mechanical rod rotator. This electric sucker rod rotator uses a low-voltage motor with a high transmission ratio and is connected to a control system or independent control box. The use of an electric motor eliminates the need to install traditional mechanical arms or cables for actuating gears, thereby improving reliability. The newly integrated rotation sensor is used in conjunction with the control box to monitor performance and alert the operator in the event of a failure. In addition, the electric sucker rod rotator can better control the daily rotation and reduce the torsion rod stress.

The inventor also developed a smart rod rotor that uses sensor technology to address premature wear due to borehole deviation. The smart rod rotor automates the routine of checking the integrity of the rod rotor and uses pump control in conjunction with the rod RPC (RPC) allows remote monitoring and alarm, thereby reducing on-site time and maintenance. The rod string rotation is used in conjunction with the rod guide device to remove paraffin from the inside of the production tubing, and evenly distribute the wear of the rod and the rod connector. The combination of technologies extends the time between workovers while minimizing downtime.

The smart rod rotator has a programmable logic controller (PLC). If a certain number of rotations does not occur within the time range specified by the user, the logic controller will issue a fault or alarm to RPC.
