The Republic of Iraq national flag consisting of three equal horizontal stripes of (from top to bottom) red, white, and black with the inscription in Kufic script “Allāhu akbar” (“God is great”) arranged horizontally in the centre of the white stripe. The flag has a width-to-length ratio of 2 to 3.
Story:
The national flag is rectangular and the ratio of length to width is 3:2. The flag is composed of three parallel rectangles: red, white and black. There are three green five pointed stars in the middle of the white, in which the words "Allah is supreme" are written in Arabic. The four colors are pan Arabic, representing the Umayyad, Abbas, Fatima and Hashim dynasties of Muhammad's descendants. In addition, red represents bravery and revolution, white represents grandeur and peace, black represents Jihad victory and oil, and green represents land. The three stars symbolize unity, freedom and socialism.
