Mozambique national flag consisting of horizontal stripes of green, black, and yellow separated by two narrow white stripes; a red hoist triangle bears a yellow star and other symbols. The width-to-length ratio of the flag is approximately 2 to 3.

Story:
The national flag is rectangular and the ratio of length to width is 3:2. On the left side of the flag is a red triangle, painted with a golden five pointed star, an open book, crossed rifles and hoes; on the right side are three parallel wide strips of green, black and yellow, with a white strip above and below each. Green symbolizes agricultural wealth, black symbolizes the African continent, yellow symbolizes underground resources, white symbolizes the justice of people's struggle and the cause of peace to be established, and red symbolizes the armed struggle and revolution for national liberation. The Yellow five pointed star represents the spirit of internationalism. Books symbolize culture and education. Rifles and hoes symbolize the unity of the broad masses of workers with the armed forces and the common defense and construction of the motherland.
