Story:
The national flag is rectangular and the ratio of length to width is 19:10. The flag is composed of 11 red and white stripes. There is a white five pointed star on the blue square in the upper left corner. The red and white stripes are the 11 signers of the declaration commemorating Liberia's independence. Red symbolizes courage, white symbolizes virtue, blue symbolizes the African continent, and the five pointed star symbolizes the only black republic in Africa at that time.
