Suriname national flag consisting of unequal horizontal stripes of green, white, red, white, and green, with a central yellow star. The flag has a width-to-length ratio of 2 to 3.

Story:
The national flag is rectangular and the ratio of length to width is 3:2. The flag is composed of five parallel strips of green, white, red, white and green. The width ratio of red, green and white strips is 4 ∶ 2 ∶ 1. A yellow five pointed star is painted in the center. Green symbolizes fertile soil and people's expectation of new Suriname; white symbolizes justice and freedom; red symbolizes enthusiasm and progress, and also expresses the desire to devote all strength to the motherland. The Yellow five pointed star symbolizes national unity and bright future.
