The United Kingdom national flag,red, white, and blue flag in which are combined the Crosses of St. George (England), St. Andrew (Scotland), and St. Patrick (Ireland). Initially the Union Flag was called a jack only when it was flown at the bowsprit of British naval vessels, but it was commonly called the Union Jack by the late 17th century; now, either name is acceptable. The flag is flown on land for government and military purposes, and at sea it serves as a flag for the Royal Navy. The general public uses it unofficially as a civil flag. Story:
The national flag is rectangular and the ratio of length to width is 2:1. It's a rice flag with a blue face. The flag is made up of England's White Red Cross, Scotland's blue white cross and Ireland's White Red Cross. In the flag, the Red Cross on the white side represents the guardian Saint George of England, the white cross represents the guardian Saint Andrew of Scotland, and the red cross represents the guardian Saint Patrick of Ireland.
