China Railway Guangzhou Bureau Group Co., Ltd. is one of the 18 railway bureaus of large-scale railway transport enterprises managed by China National Railway Group Co., Ltd., referred to as "Guangzhou Railway". Its predecessor was Guangzhou Railway Bureau and Wuhan Railway Bureau, which were separated from Hengyang Railway Bureau in 1958. Hengyang Railway Bureau moved south to Guangzhou and established Guangzhou Railway Bureau.
In February 1993, approved by the economic and Trade Office of the State Council, Guangzhou Railway (Group) company, the first railway transport enterprise group in China, was established on the basis of the original Guangzhou Railway Bureau. The total extension length of the line is 10483.7 km, the operating mileage is 4907.6 km, the operating mileage of electrification is 2005.554 km, and the number of OCS is 7214.693 km. There are 11785 turnouts, 2754 bridges with 301637 linear meters, 964 tunnels with 435043 linear meters and 19916 culverts with 527074 linear meters. There are 1291 locomotives, including 726 diesel locomotives and 565 electric locomotives, 4322 passenger cars and 1112 luggage trains.
On the two days before the National Day in 2019, China Railway Guangzhou Bureau Group Co., Ltd. has sent 4.68 million passengers, with an average of more than 2 million passengers per day. The passenger flow is mainly radiated from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Changsha and other big cities to surrounding towns.
