Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. is a wholly state-owned company authorized by Guangzhou municipal government to operate and manage state-owned assets. It is mainly engaged in research and development (R & D) and manufacturing and operation (P & M) in the fields of Chinese patent medicine and plant medicine, chemical raw materials and preparations, biological pharmaceutical preparations, etc It is a large-scale enterprise group integrating science, industry and trade, which is supported and developed by Guangzhou. Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Group has become the largest pharmaceutical enterprise in China and the leading enterprise in Guangzhou biomedical health industry.

Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was founded in 1951, with more than 1700 employees. In December 2001, it was officially restructured into a limited liability company. The original company entered into a limited liability company as a whole, and 33 natural persons participated in two manufacturing industries and the original company to form the new company's shareholders. The registered capital of the company is 22 million yuan, and it was renamed Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Group has nearly 30 member enterprises and two listed companies, Guangzhou Pharmaceutical (Hong Kong H-share and Shanghai A-share listed) and Baiyunshan (Shenzhen A-share listed).

On January 13, 2015, Baiyunshan, a listed company of Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Group, established a strategic cooperative relationship with ALI Health Information Technology Co., Ltd. in Guangzhou. The two sides will make use of their respective resource advantages for common development, dock in three major fields, including pharmaceutical e-commerce, and promote the information development of pharmaceutical health industry. In July 2017, Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Group and Guangdong Academy of Sciences signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Guangzhou, focusing on in-depth cooperation and collaborative innovation in the field of biology and health, promoting the transformation of biomedical scientific and technological achievements, and creating a new highland of biomedical science and technology.

In August 2016, Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Group ranked 187th in the "2016 top 500 Chinese enterprises". In the top 100 list of China's pharmaceutical industry in 2016, Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Group ranked first and won the title of "China's largest pharmaceutical enterprise". In April 2019, he won the National May 1st Labor award.
