Founded by Robert Schindler in Switzerland in 1874, Schindler Elevator and escalator company is headquartered in Lucerne, with a history of more than 130 years. It is the world's largest escalator manufacturer and the world's second largest elevator supplier. Schindler China is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Schindler group. Schindler group's entry into new China can be traced back to 1980. Shortly after Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping opened China's door to foreign companies, Schindler group historically established China's first industrial Sino foreign joint venture and began to produce and sell Schindler elevators, the world's leading elevator company, in China. At present, Schindler China is headquartered in Shanghai on the coast of the East China Sea, including two elevator and escalator production bases and an Asia Pacific R & D center.
