In 1994, with the approval of the people's Bank of China, the securities business department was changed into a professional securities company wholly owned by China Merchants Bank - Zhaoyin securities company;
In 1998, in accordance with the provisions of the state on the separate operation of banks and securities, and approved by the China Securities Regulatory Commission, China Merchants Bank changed its wholly-owned company into a limited liability company composed of 13 shareholders, and officially renamed Guotong Securities Co., Ltd. in October 1999, the company increased its capital and shares for the second time, and the capital increased to 2.2 billion yuan;
In 2001, the company devoted itself to the construction of modern enterprise system and completed the joint-stock reform with a capital of 2.4 billion yuan. In July of the next year, in order to seek the road of internationalization, the company changed its name to China Merchants Securities Co., Ltd.
