In 1892, Edison General Electric Company and Thomson Houston electric company merged to form General Electric Company (GE).

Ge in China
As early as 1906, Ge began to develop trade with China. It was one of the most active and influential foreign companies in China at that time. In 1908, Ge established its first light bulb factory in Shenyang. In 1934, Ge bought Shenchang and began to provide installation and maintenance services for imported electrical equipment in China.
In May 2012, Ge also established a global strategic alliance with China Xidian Electric Co., Ltd.
At present, all of GE's business units have been operating in China, with more than 18000 employees and more than 50 business entities including sole proprietorship, joint venture and R & D center. In 2013, GE's Greater China sales revenue reached more than $7 billion. GE has launched the "green creative" strategic plan around the world.
