In the same year, Trimble's acquisition of TDS made Trimble a leader in data acquisition software, hardware and GIS data acquisition market.
In 2003, Trimble established a joint venture with Nikon to design and produce optical surveying and mapping products, and is responsible for the sales of Nikon optical surveying and mapping products outside Japan. In July, it acquired Canada's Applanix company and successfully entered the field of inertial navigation / GPS integration technology.
