History of Schneider Electric
In the 19th century, Schneider Electric was engaged in iron and steel industry, heavy machinery industry and ship construction industry; in the 20th century, it was engaged in electric power and automation management industry. In more than 170 years since its establishment, Schneider Electric has encountered numerous challenges and made several major strategic choices. Now the group has grown into an industry leader.
1836: Schneider brothers take over Creusot foundry (71), which was in trouble at that time, and they set up Schneider & CIE two years later.
1891: Schneider, who has become a professional weapon manufacturer, began to march into the emerging power market at that time and carried out reform and innovation on itself.
1919: Schneider established bases in Germany and Eastern Europe through the European industrial and financial union (EIFU). In the following years, Schneider formed an alliance with the then leading international electric group, Westinghouse, to expand its business scope to the production of power stations, electrical equipment and electric locomotives.
After the war: Schneider gradually stopped making weapons and turned to the construction, steel and power industries. In order to realize the diversification of the company's business and open up new markets, Schneider has carried out the overall restructuring.
1981-1997: Schneider Electric put aside some non strategic activities and continued to focus on the power industry. In order to implement this strategy, Schneider has made several strategic mergers and Acquisitions: te electric, Shikuai electric and Meilan Zhelan became members of Schneider Electric Group in 1988, 1991 and 1992 respectively.
1999: Schneider has made great progress in the field of super terminal through the acquisition of Lexel, the second largest power distribution giant in Europe. In May 1999, the group changed its name to Schneider Electric, more clearly emphasizing the company's professional commitment to the electrical field. Schneider Electric has adopted the strategy of accelerating development and improving market competitiveness.
2000-2009: with the development of its own structure and the implementation of the company's Merger Policy, Schneider Electric has positioned itself in new market segments, including human-computer dialogue, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), motion control, sound data image system, sensor technology, building automation and safety (such as digital, crouzet, Clipsal, MGE UPS) , TAC, kavlico, Andover control, etc.
