Statoilasa, the largest oil company in northern Europe and the largest company in Norway, has more than 25000 employees, which was merged by the former Statoil and norskhydro oil and gas departments in 2007. As one of the world's largest net crude oil sellers and the main supplier of continental European natural gas, it is the famous supplier and retailer of petroleum products on Scandinavia. The company is engaged in the exploration, production, smelting, transportation and sales of petroleum products. The company has expanded its business to the world, including Europe, Asia, South America and other continents.
Norskstatoil, which was produced in 1972, is funded by 100% of the state. It has abundant technologies in plane drilling, seabed equipment, multi-faceted oil and gas flow, deep water drilling, float production, oil recovery, natural gas transportation and processing. It is the largest oil company in Norway, with an annual turnover of up to DNK 120billion. Norskhydro was founded in 1905. After World War II, the state became its main shareholder, and was one of the largest industrial groups and international enterprises in Norway. We are committed to energy, materials and food fields, providing mineral fertilizer, oil, natural gas, aluminum, magnesium, petrochemical products. State owned shares account for 51 per cent and have 35000 employees. In 1998, the business volume reached NOK 97.5 billion (unit: NOK, 1999 current price: NOK = 1.05 yuan).
Although both Norse and heirlu are energy-based and state-controlled companies, they have adopted different forms of limited liability holding companies and joint stock limited companies according to the different control levels adopted by the state, and their corporate governance structure is different.
In june1972, the Norwegian parliament unanimously adopted the establishment of a national oil company, which was governed by the laws and regulations of the Norwegian joint stock company in the form of a limited liability holding company (as).
In 2001, the company was privatized and listed, and was listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange, and was renamed ASA.
In December2006, Norwegian national oil proposed a plan to merge with the oil and gas sector of Norske heidelow company. In March, 2007, Statoil merged the oil and gas Department of norskhydro, a Norwegian heirlu company, and was renamed StatoilHydro on October 1, 2007.
On October 1, 2007, Statoil and hydro oil operations Company of Norway merged into Statoil hydro.
In October, 2009, CNOOC participated in the bidding for five deep-sea exploration blocks in the Gulf of Mexico, including Tucker and Krakatoa deep water blocks, and is expected to sign an agreement with Norwegian oil soon.
