In 1985, with the approval of the State Council, BCEIA was successfully held by the former State Science and Technology Commission of the people's Republic of China. It is the first large-scale international academic conference and exhibition in the field of analytical testing in China. BCEIA is composed of two parts: Academic Conference and exhibition. It is held every two years and has been successfully held for 18 times. It plays an important role in promoting international scientific and technological exchanges and promoting the development of analytical testing science and instrument manufacturing technology in China.

BCEIA exhibition, as a window to display international new technology, new instruments and new equipment, has been concerned by many experts, scholars and scientific and technological personnel at home and abroad. In recent years, more than 3000 new instruments and new equipment have been displayed in previous exhibitions. The exhibits include analytical instruments, life science instruments, laboratory equipment, reagents, software and analytical testing services, etc Face to face communication with the audience on analysis and testing concepts, products and technologies, solutions. BCEIA exhibition is also an important window to show the innovative achievements of China's scientific instruments. In the same period of BCEIA 2009 Exhibition, "the third national major scientific instrument and equipment development project and local scientific instrument development project" was held, and terahertz spectrometer, the first quantum diamond single spin spectrometer and other instrument products were exhibited for the first time.

As an important part of BCEIA, the conference is always facing the world's scientific and technological frontier, and has various forms, including conference presentations of famous scholars, electronic microscopy and materials science, mass spectrometry, spectroscopy, chromatography, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, electroanalytical chemistry, analytical technology in life sciences, environmental analysis, stoichiometry and reference materials, and labeling immunity Analysis and other 10 academic branch report meeting, special forum, wall newspaper, and more application technology exchange meeting, etc.

In order to promote the development and improvement of analytical and testing instrument technology in China, encourage innovation, and promote the industrialization and marketization of analytical and testing instruments with independent intellectual property rights, the conference established the "Beijing analytical and testing academic report and Exhibition instrument Award" (BCEIA Gold Award) to reward the development and production units that have made contributions to the innovative development of analytical and testing instruments in China. Bcela gold awards are selected every two years. From the third BCEIA in 1989 to the 18th BCEIA in 2019, 180 awards have been selected, with 170 winners. It has a strong influence in the field of domestic analytical and testing instruments.
