At 11:28 a.m. on August 24, the first roll of the hot load test run of the air cushion furnace unit of Baowu Aluminum successfully came off the line according to the requirements of the futures contract, and the surface quality and performance of the product met the requirements. The commissioning of this unit is an important symbol for Baowu Aluminum to break through the production process of automobile aluminum plate, and lay a solid foundation for entering the domestic aluminum alloy automobile plate market in the future.
The air cushion furnace is the core unit for Baowu Aluminum to produce high value-added products, and the level of its equipment and technology is an important symbol of whether it can produce qualified automotive aluminum plates. The unit has the advantages of high automation, concise process, short production cycle and low cost, etc. It can produce aluminum alloy strips with thickness from 0.3 to 4.5mm and width from 1000 to 2650mm, and the process speed of the unit is between 4 and 60 meters/minute. According to the design capacity of 13.5 tons/hour, the annual output is about 97,000 tons, and the main products are 2-series, 5-series and 6-series.
On December 20, 2020, the first phase of Baowu Aluminum project was completed and put into operation. The first phase of the project has a total investment of nearly 7 billion RMB, covering an area of 790 mu, and will build an annual output of 300,000 tons of aluminum alloy finishing production line, mainly including 4 major workshops and auxiliary facilities, namely, melting and casting workshop, medium-thick plate workshop, cold rolling workshop and finishing workshop. The design capacity is 80,000 tons/year of aluminum alloy automobile plate, 50,000 tons/year of aluminum alloy medium-thick plate, and 170,000 tons/year of aluminum alloy plate and strip. The main products are located in the high, precise and sharp aluminum sheet and strip products that are urgently needed in the key fields in China, which are widely used in the fields of automobile, aerospace, military industry, rail transportation, packaging, architectural decorative strips and electronics, etc.
