Repsol SA

Founded in September 1987, Repsol is the largest industrial company in Spain. Its business includes exploration and production, refining and marketing, chemical industry and natural gas. According to the comprehensive calculation of six internationally used indicators, including oil reserves, oil production, natural gas reserves, natural gas production, refining capacity and oil sales volume, Repsol oil company ranks 47th among the world's oil companies.

By the end of 1998, the company had total assets of 2859 billion pesetas (about US $21.7 billion), shareholders' equity of 1005.4 billion pesetas (about US $7628 million), sales revenue of 3090.3 billion pesetas (about US $23.45 billion) and profit of 145.5 billion pesetas (about US $1.1 billion).

The company has a net proven oil and gas reserve of 978 million barrels (134 million tons) of oil equivalent, of which 66% is oil (about 88 million tons) and 34% is natural gas (56.5 billion cubic meters). In 1998, the total oil and gas production was 90.55 million barrels (about 12.4 million tons) of oil equivalent, including 74.34 million barrels (10.18 million tons) of oil and 97.3 billion cubic feet (about 2.8 billion cubic meters) of natural gas; in 1998, the oil processing capacity was 41.83 million tons, and the sales volume of oil products was 39.58 million tons.
