Centrica group

Centrica is the largest gas supplier in the UK, supplying 14 million homes with gas (trademarks British Gas and Scottish gas); it also sells and installs gas heating and cooking equipment. Centrica is the product of the reorganization of the former British Gas Company in 1997. It was a state-owned monopoly until 1986. At the beginning of the restructuring, Centrica continued its gas supply business to civil, industrial and chemical customers. Now it is the backbone of the power supply (4 million consumers), as well as financial services and telecommunications services. The company also provides consumer guides and credit card issuing services under the name goldfish. Centrica's Auto Association subsidiary provides home and car insurance and road rescue services.
