Korea electric power company is a state-owned electric power company. It is the only electric power company in Korea at present. It was founded on January 26, 1898. The company is committed to the construction of various projects for the development of electric power resources. The main business of Korea electric power company is transmission, distribution and power sales. Its service area not only covers the whole of Korea, but also has set up overseas offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Paris, New York and other places. In August 1989, the shares of Korea electric power company were listed on the Korean stock market, and 21% of the shares were sold to the public, becoming part of the privatization company. In October 1994, the stock of Korea electric power company was listed on the New York stock market. The company's main business is power transmission, distribution and power sales. Since its establishment in 1993, the overseas business promotion group has signed a technical cooperation agreement with the electric power departments of China and the Philippines. In December 1993, it signed a nuclear power maintenance technical service agreement with China Guangdong nuclear power joint venture Co., Ltd. according to this agreement, Korean technicians went to Guangdong Daya Bay Nuclear power station for maintenance consultation. Relying on its advanced technology and good reputation, the company once served as the technical consultant of group 1 and group 2 of China Guangdong nuclear power plant, and was responsible for training the staff of China Jinshan Nuclear Power Plant.

In Yanji City, Jilin Province, the project proposal of building 200MW thermal power plant by BOT mode has been approved and further discussion is under way. In May 1995, the ROM contract of Malaya thermal power plant (650MW) was signed with Philippine electric power company. The company has been set up in the local area and is operating the power generation business.

One of the key international cooperation projects of Korea electric power commune is cooperation with China in nuclear power. With the active support of the Korean and Chinese governments, the nuclear power cooperation between Korea electric power commune and the Chinese government and various power units is developing steadily.
