After that, Chevron set up a subsidiary in China to expand its business, covering oil exploration and production, fuel oil and lubricant sales. At present, Chevron and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) have signed a product sharing contract to jointly develop the Northeast Sichuan gas field in the Sichuan Basin in Central China. Chevron also works with China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) to develop offshore oil and gas resources in the South China Sea and Bohai Sea.
