In China's Bohai Bay, ConocoPhillips China Ltd. and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) jointly develop Penglai 19-3 oilfield, one of the largest offshore oilfields in China, which is located in block 11 / 05 of China's Bohai Bay. In cooperation with CNOOC, ConocoPhillips discovered Penglai 19-3 offshore oilfield in May 1999. At present, ConocoPhillips China is the operator of the oilfield. The first phase of the project was put into operation in December 2002.
Penglai oilfield phase II project includes the construction of five drilling and production platforms and a FPSO. All platforms have been completed and put into operation. One of the world's largest new FPSOs, offshore oil 117 FPSO (also known as Bohai vigorous FPSO), was put into operation in 2009 to process crude oil from Penglai 19-3 and nearby Penglai 19-9 and 25-6 oilfields. With the continuous development, the output of Penglai oilfield is expected to continue to rise. In 2011, the average daily net crude oil production was about 42000 barrels.
In Nanhai, Xijiang 24-3, the first offshore oil field of ConocoPhillips China Limited in China, was put into operation in 1994. A year later, Xijiang 30-2, the second oilfield, was put into production. In 1997, ConocoPhillips China developed Xijiang 24-3 satellite oilfield (24-1). Horizontal extension drilling technology was used in the development of the oilfield, and several world drilling records were set up. According to the contract, ConocoPhillips' ownership of 24-3 and 24-1 oilfields terminated in January 2010, and its ownership of 30-2 oilfields terminated in November 2010.
On March 31, 2006, ConocoPhillips successfully completed the acquisition of Burlington resources. ConocoPhillips China has further expanded its assets in China, including the acquisition of ownership of Panyu 4-2, 5-1 and 11-6 oilfields in block 15 / 34 of the South China Sea. CNOOC is the operator of Panyu oilfield. The average daily crude oil production of this block in 2011 was 10000 barrels.
