According to the power system reform plan of the State Council, China Southern Power Grid Corporation was officially established and put into operation on December 29, 2002. The company is under the central management, and SASAC of the State Council shall perform the duties of investor. The power supply area of the company is Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou and Hainan. It is responsible for the investment, construction, operation and management of Southern regional power grid, operation of relevant power transmission and distribution business, participation in investment, construction and operation of relevant trans regional power transmission and transformation and networking projects; engaged in power purchase and sales business, responsible for power trading and dispatching; engaged in domestic and foreign investment and financing business; independently carry out foreign trade circulation Business, international cooperation, foreign engineering contracting and foreign labor cooperation.

Basic situation of China Southern Power Grid

China Southern Power Grid covers five provinces and regions, closely connects Hong Kong and Macao, and connects with neighboring countries and regions at multiple points. The power supply area is 1 million square kilometers, the power supply population is 230 million, and the power supply customers are 70.63 million. In 2013, the highest load of the whole network was 128.9 million kilowatts, and the power consumption of the whole society was 894.5 billion kwh.

The East-West span of China Southern Power Grid is nearly 2000 km. There are various power sources such as water, coal, nuclear, pumped storage, oil, gas and wind power in the grid. As of the end of May 2014, the total installed capacity of the whole grid is 230 million kW (including 122.34 million KW of thermal power, 96.07 million kw of hydropower and 6.12 million kw of nuclear power, accounting for 53.0%, 41.6% and 2.7% respectively). The total length of transmission line is 187000 km. At the end of 2013, the installed capacity of non fossil energy accounted for 46% of the total installed capacity, and the power generation accounted for 38% of the total power generation, both higher than the national average of 31% and 22%. The hybrid operation of AC and DC in China Southern Power Grid, long-distance, large capacity and ultra-high voltage transmission, has complex security and stability characteristics, difficult to control and high technology content. At present, the west to East power transmission has formed 15 large channels of 500 kV and above, namely "eight AC and seven DC" (four circuits of 500 kV Tianguang AC, four circuits of GUI Guang AC, ± 500 kV Tianguang DC, three Guang DC, Xiluodu Guangdong DC, two circuits of GUI Guang DC, ± 800 kV Yunguang UHVDC and Nuozhadu Guangdong UHVDC), with the maximum transmission capacity of more than 30 million kilowatts .

China Southern Power Grid is the first "going out" power grid in China. As the Chinese executive unit of power cooperation in the Greater Mekong Subregion determined by the State Council, the company actively implements the "going out" strategy, adheres to the surrounding and main business, and strengthens power cooperation with countries in the Greater Mekong subregion, Hong Kong and Macao. In 2013, power transmission to Hong Kong through China Southern Power Grid accounted for 25% of its power consumption, and power transmission to Macao accounted for 93% of its power consumption. By the end of 2013, the company had delivered 28.1 billion kwh of electricity to Vietnam, 500 million kwh to Laos and 9.5 billion kwh of electricity from Myanmar.

Main situation of production and operation since the establishment of the company

From 2003 to 2013, the company's electricity sales increased from 257.5 billion kwh to 743.3 billion kwh, with an average annual growth rate of 11.2%; its operating revenue increased from 129 billion yuan to 448.2 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 13.26%; its power transmission from west to East increased from 26.7 billion kWh to 131.4 billion kwh, with an average annual growth rate of 17.2%; its total assets increased from 231.2 billion yuan to 587.2 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 1.5 times; its accumulated profits and taxes reached 312 billion yuan Yuan. A total of 589.3 billion yuan has been invested in power grid construction. The transformation capacity of 110 kV and above in the whole network has increased from 200 million KVA to 700 million KVA, and the line length has increased from 70000 km to 170000 km, increasing by nearly 3.5 times and 2.4 times respectively. The company has been listed in the global top 500 enterprises for nine consecutive years and ranked 134th in 2013. From January to may 2014, the company completed 296.4 billion kwh of electricity sales, a year-on-year increase of 6.6%; and 48 billion kwh of electricity from west to East, a year-on-year increase of 12.8%. The investment in fixed assets was 24.5 billion yuan, and the operating revenue was 177.64 billion yuan, up 5.6% year on year.

From January to may 2014, the total social electricity consumption of five southern provinces and regions was 355.6 billion kwh, with a year-on-year growth of 6.8%, of which Guangdong 189 billion kwh, with a year-on-year growth of 6.7%; Guangxi 50.8 billion kwh, with a year-on-year growth of 5.8%; Yunnan 56.7 billion kwh, with a year-on-year growth of 7.7%; Guizhou 47.1 billion kwh, with a year-on-year growth of 6.1%; Hainan 9.9 billion kwh, with a year-on-year growth of 8%.
